US soldier who raped and murdered Iraqi girl, 14, may face death

A former American soldier has been convicted of raping a 14-year-old Iraqi girl before murdering her and her family, and may face the death sentence for his crimes.
Relatives of Abeer al-Janabi, who attracted the fatal attention of Private First Class Steven Green and his comrades as they manned a traffic checkpoint in the so-called triangle of death south of Baghdad, said that the 24-year-old soldier must die.
“We are just waiting for the court to sentence him so he gets justice and the court can change the image of Americans,” Karim Janabi, the uncle of the girl, said.
Green, who was dismissed from the army with a personality disorder before the rape and murder charges came to light, was charged in a civilian court in Kentucky with premeditated murder, rape and obstruction of justice. His lawyer argued that the brutality of life in the combat zone, as well as a lack of leadership, had turned his client into a killer. However, the jury took less than two days to return a guilty verdict.

Green and three other soldiers manning Traffic Checkpoint 2 in the lawless town of Mahmoudiya — notorious for its al-Qaeda-linked killings — spotted the teenage girl as she passed by their checkpoint in March 2006. Drinking whiskey and playing cards, as Iraq sunk deeper into sectarian civil war, the young soldiers hatched a plot to track her home dressed in black ninja-style clothes.
In the house three of Green’s comrades took turns raping the girl while he led her parents and six-year-old sister into a room next door. According to testimony from an earlier military tribunal, there were shots before Green walked back into the room where his comrades were gang-raping the girl. “They’re all dead. I just killed them,” he said. He then raped Miss al-Janabi before putting a pillow over her face and shooting her three times with an AK47 rifle.
Shortly afterwards, a hardline Sunni group ambushed an American patrol from the same unit, kidnapping two soldiers, who were tortured and beheaded in what the militants later said was revenge for the rape and murder. The bodies of the two soldiers were left booby-trapped to explode.
The case came to light when another soldier from the same platoon reported the atrocity in a psychological counselling session to help him to deal with the deaths of the two American soldiers who were beheaded by the militants.
The three other soldiers who raped Ms al-Janabi have already been given life sentences in a military court. Green’s sentencing hearing will begin on Monday.
Well God has forgiven rapists and murderers before. The person guilty of the sin would have to ask for forgiveness first.
If God forgives him or not he still has to pay for his sins (crimes). A jury found him guilty and the sentence is more than likely going to be the death sentence. So look at it how you want to… the guy will pay for his sins.http://www.sacbee.com/nationworld/story/…
Regardless of his acts I still feel sorry for the guy. Those soldiers are going through an enormous amount of stress having to do things they might not have had to do in a normal life. I can imagine the mental effect that killing someone would have on these soldiers. There are a lot of soldiers that are not getting the mental help they need and are spending way too much time in duty. I’m sure it’s not hard to crack under pressure which I am sure he did.
It seems that God very much approves of atrocitieshttp://www.iheartchaos.com/content/18-fu…
He’s not going to Heaven or Hell, because they don’t exist. He’s just going to die like everyone else however he will be forced to spend a life time in jail, and suffer for his actions here on Earth.
The quick answer. The only unforgivable sin is unbelief and that can be forgiven by believing, so yes.
If he asks forgivness, but that does not mean God wont punish him. Forgivness is not absolution from punishment. It just means he wont burn in hell.
Horray for Firing Squad Death for Rapist-Murderers. I support our troops as much as anyone, howvever–you can’t be a murder-rapist and a patriotic American soldier at the same time.
no. he will be punished unless he has fully repented (including compensating the girl which is impossible)
People who don’t exist can’t forgive anything.
People who condone or partake in war and murder will not be forgiven which is 99% of the population
He forgives anyone, no matter what you did, just repent
God will forgive anyone but you must also say sorry to the people that was raped it is a sin i dont think its very nice but im not suppose to judge so god will forgive you but you must pray to him for forgiveness and apologise to the peope that was raped ask for forgiveness
Of course.
That’s not to say that the soldiers won’t pay for their crimes.
And Jesus teaches that lusting is the same as committing adultery, and hating one’s brother is the same as murder. In God’s eyes, we’re ALL unrighteous, so lets not be too hasty as pointing fingers at “bad” people, because we are in the same “divine court” as they.
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
God bless
Will he forgive people who spread propaganda? That’s what I want to know…
