The US flag (or Union flag) during the battle of Gettysburg in July 1863 had 35 stars and 13 stripes (7 red, 6 white) at that time. West Virgina had been made a state the month previous and another star was added to the flag. Before that, it was 34 stars in 1861 when Kansas became a state.
If you’re refering to battle flags, that’s a different story. They varied from unit to unit. But that’s what the Union flag looked like.

They weren’t standardized though. All were handmade and varied, particularly with the placement of the stars on the blue field.

The United States was the “Union”. Are flag looked the same but with less stars.

I’m not sure that there is a “real one”. Our nation was divided and represented parties had their own flags.
